About Charles A. Pettigrew

Chuck Pettigrew focuses his practice on commercial real estate transactions, including originating loans for construction, balance sheet and the commercial mortgage-backed securities markets. He also works on joint ventures, leasing transactions and defeasance transactions. His clients are banks, finance companies, loan servicers and equity providers.

The speed of closings may be set by a client's tolerance for risk

Chuck understands that considering a client's appetite and tolerance for risk is essential for an efficient closing. For example, if one lender's risk tolerance is particularly low, closings take longer because more due diligence and documentation may be required. Another client with a greater appetite for risk may expect transactions to be as quick and efficient as possible, while still adequately hedging risk. Chuck appreciates that different approaches for each client are required. Chuck has an intimate knowledge of each client's business in order to provide the correspondingly appropriate legal service.

Chuck has deep experience in developing the win-win scenarios that are the essence of commercial real estate transactions. He knows that while law is, at its core, an adversarial system, a successful transaction for one of his clients finds both lender and borrower equally satisfied.

Previously, Chuck was an associate in the real estate group of another law firm.
