The Jewish Association Serving the Aging (JASA) has appointed Katten New York Real Estate partner, Marty Siroka, as president of its Board of Trustees. As one of the oldest and largest organizations offering services to support the elderly in New York, JASA advocates and provides mental health, caregiver and legal assistance on behalf of New York’s elderly, ensuring their continued safety and independence in their communities.

With over 30 years of experience in real estate financing, affordable housing and federal, state and local government housing programs, Marty has provided valuable support to JASA, particularly with regards to housing services. Marty has supported the organization and served on its Board of Trustees since 2007. He will replace Mark Imowitz as president, who is now vice president of the board.

In a recent article in Mann Publications, JASA CEO Kathryn Haslanger praised Marty for his longstanding support of JASA’s mission: “…we are delighted to welcome his commitment as he assumes the role of Board President. JASA is fortunate to have a seasoned expert in affordable housing leading the Board as we embark on new housing development initiatives,” Kathryn said.

Marty’s work with JASA has taught him how critical the organization’s mission is, especially as New York’s population ages. “In my 12 years serving on the Board for JASA, I have become very familiar with the good work this agency does in housing and social services for New York’s seniors.” He added that he looks forward to helping JASA continue to grow in its “efforts to meet the needs of New York’s older residents,” as quoted in the Mann Publications article.

Real Estate Weekly also featured Marty for being appointed as president of JASA’s Board of Trustees on July 31.

For almost 20 years, Marty worked for the City of New York, including as vice president and general counsel of the New York City Housing Development Corporation and deputy general counsel of the City of New York Department of Housing Preservation and Development. In 1998, he began working as a private practice attorney.
