Anthony Paccione, a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice, was quoted in an article in The Times of London on the trial of disgraced hedge fund manager Bernard Madoff. Prosecutors recently agreed to a 30-day extension, increasing suspicions that Mr. Madoff’s attorney is negotiating a plea bargain. Mr. Paccione says that whether to accept that cooperation plea or not will be a difficult decision for prosecutors. “The government will be under a lot of pressure. There's going to be a lot of press coverage and it would look pretty bad for prosecutors to have to stand in court and say what a great guy he is,” he says.
