Renee Friedman, a partner in the firm’s Public Finance Practice, was quoted in an article in The Bond Buyer on Smart Swaps for hospitals. The article, which quoted Ms. Friedman from the Nonprofit Hospital Finance Conference in which she participated, noted that in recent years, health care issuers have turned to derivatives and hedging strategies to help them manage market risk. As they have done so, many have proceeded without a firm understanding of the varying strategies, while others have shown reluctance to use them. As the use of derivatives increases, it behooves people to educate themselves and create a forward-looking plan. (“Panelists Urge Smart Swaps for Hospitals” October 31, 2007)
