About Steven J. Katz
Steven Katz represents health care providers such as hospitals, nursing facilities, ambulatory surgery centers and physician groups. He counsels them on operational, regulatory, compliance, licensing and reimbursement issues. He also helps clients set up accountable care organizations and nonprofit entities, and advises private equity firms and lenders regarding health care regulatory risks in private equity transactions involving health care providers.
Finding solutions for technical issues starts by anticipating problems
Steven focuses on solving technical issues related to regulatory, compliance, reimbursement challenges and False Claims Act litigation. This includes regulatory audit defense, ACO formation and management, clinical research and other highly technical areas.
Steven's clients are primarily located in New York state, but he also represents other national health care providers and corporate clients that purchase health care companies or finance their operations. He works with large hospital systems as well as smaller providers and physician group practices. He also does managed care-related work for health plans and advises provider trade organizations.
He regularly defends providers facing regulatory audits by the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or its contractors.
During law school, Steve was executive articles editor of the Journal of Law and Policy and a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.
