LOS ANGELES – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Susan A. Grode, Co-Chair of the Firm’s national Entertainment and Media Practice, has been selected to receive the 2006 Woman of Vision and Action Award by the Ms. Foundation for Women. Ms. Grode is being honored for her political activism and advocacy for the women’s movement. She will accept the award at the annual Gloria Awards: A National Salute to Women of Vision, on May 25 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York. The event honors extraordinary women who work to ensure that the most vulnerable among us have the same rights and protections as the most powerful.

Ms. Grode is a former Ms. Foundation board member and current legal advisor to Ms. Magazine. In addition, she is a founder of the Hollywood Women’s Political Committee and the Hollywood Policy Center. Ms. Grode also co-founded and served as the first president of the California Women’s Law Center; serves as an advisory board member of the International Women’s Media Foundation; served as a past president and board member of Judy Chicago’s Through the Flower organization; is vice president and board member of the Center Theater Group at the Los Angeles Music Center; and Trustee of the USC School of Theater. Ms. Grode has also been honored by The Women’s Building and Girls Inc.

Ms. Grode concentrates her practice in entertainment, intellectual property, licensing, merchandising, interactive games, Internet and media law, counseling and representing domestic and international motion picture studios, film and television production and distribution companies and entrepreneurs, as well as book publishing, toy and Internet companies, theater and arts institutions. She has extensive experience in domestic and international animation and licensing and merchandising issues, having represented major motion picture and animation studios, and numerous production and toy companies, as well as the creators and executive producers of some of the world’s best-known television franchises. Ms. Grode also represents award-winning independent filmmakers, producers and financiers, from the development and funding of their projects through to distribution.

Ms. Grode developed the Firm’s Interactive Game group, representing developers, publishers and distributors of video games, along with a cable network devoted to the industry. She also represents a wide variety of new media and technology companies, servicing their legal needs from start-up through maturity.
