New York Litigation partner Alan Brudner, who is chair of the Bioethical Issues Committee of the New York City Bar Association, was recently a panelist in a roundtable webinar discussion of ethical and legal issues in the management of COVID-19. The other participants were bioethics experts Dr. Joseph J. Fins, Nancy Neveloff Dubler, and Brendan Parent. The program covered legal and ethical issues relating to crisis standards of care; practical and ethical difficulties of triage: deciding who to treat when resources are insufficient to treat all who need care; limits of legal immunity; and concerns about healthy volunteer challenge trials for vaccine research.
