About Britt R. DeVaney

Britt DeVaney is a litigator who takes on complex commercial litigation involving insurance matters. These are usually focused on fraud cases in both federal and state courts throughout the country. She also advises insurers about potential and actual litigation and recommends strategies to combat fraud.

Britt works primarily with large national insurance companies offering various types of insurance. These include automobile, property, health and casualty as well as worker's compensation insurance. By using the latest technology and leveraging the firm's substantial work product that has been generated over the years, she helps to reduce and manage the cost of litigation. In addition, she tailors litigation strategies to her clients' varying needs, implementing creative solutions to complex scenarios.

Britt has also worked on investigatory projects that involved analyzing numerous sets of data to determine whether fraud exists.

Her pro bono work has mainly focused on assisting applicants obtain asylum in the United States.

Before joining Katten, Britt was an extern for Judge Ronald J. Bartkowicz in the Law Division at the Circuit Court of Cook County.

While attending law school, she was the executive editor, Research & Marketing of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal; a legal academic tutor; and a member of her school's Moot Court program.
