About Cathy J. Yoon

As special counsel in the New York office’s Financial Markets and Funds practice, Cathy focuses her practice on assisting clients with navigating the legal, regulatory and operational aspects for their FinTech offerings and products. Establishing relationships and expanding partnerships with FinTech founders and companies, Cathy spearheads opportunities for her clients to build new partnerships and facilitate introductions to additional customers and revenue generation opportunities, collaborates with management teams to develop new products and guides the implementation and development of new initiatives, whether product or strategic. She frequently presents on legal, regulatory and general market issues relating to emerging technology in the financial services space, focusing on blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Experienced in diverse international and domestic legal matters

In addition to her knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrency matters, Cathy has guided founders, emerging companies and corporations on how to navigate complex and international legal issues, structure deals, manage projects, and fundraise and market.

Before joining Katten, Cathy was general counsel for a blockchain advisory firm and affiliated investment banking firm, where she assisted the management team with matters related to the firm's mergers and acquisitions advisory services and analyzing, vetting and onboarding issuers of digital assets and other equity securities. Cathy also has extensive mergers and acquisitions experience through her roles at one of the largest global financial services institutions.
