About Cathy J. Yoon

As special counsel in the New York office's Financial Services practice, Cathy helps clients better understand and use blockchain technology and other types of cryptocurrency to their advantage. Establishing relationships and expanding partnerships with blockchain founders and companies, Cathy spearheads opportunities for her clients to build new partnerships and bring in additional customers and revenue, collaborates with management teams to develop new products, and helps clients implement and develop new initiatives. She has frequently presented on legal issues relating to blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

Experienced in diverse international and domestic legal matters

In addition to her knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrency matters, Cathy has guided founders, emerging companies and corporations on how to navigate complex and international legal issues, structure deals, manage projects, and fundraise and market.

Before joining Katten, Cathy was general counsel for a blockchain advisory firm and affiliated investment banking firm, where she assisted the management team with matters related to the firm's mergers and acquisitions advisory services and analyzing, vetting and onboarding issuers of digital assets and other equity securities. Cathy also has extensive mergers and acquisitions experience through her roles at one of the largest global financial services institutions.
