About Emily C. Grimm

Emily Grimm is an associate in Katten's Litigation practice. Her practice covers a broad range of civil litigation matters for clients in the entertainment industry, retail, financial services, and more. She is primarily focused on defending large companies facing litigation for breaches of contract, copyright infringement, defamation, fraud, trade secret misappropriation, labor code violations and more.

Identifying a client’s priorities helps to minimize their liability

Emily's clients are largely based in Southern California and include production companies, movie studios, media companies, banks, credit unions, shopping malls and retail stores. She also represents a few athletes and celebrities. She knows that each client company has its own unique priorities. As their representative, she tries to proactively identify their potential areas of liability and shape her strategies around their needs. Then, before they have to face any litigation, she educates them about how they can protect themselves.

Emily has also worked on various pro bono matters, including finalizing adoptions, securing restraining orders for victims of elder abuse and advising non-profits on intellectual property matters.

Emily served as an extern for the Honorable Philip S. Gutierrez at the US District Court in the Central District of California.

While attending law school, she was editor for the Southern California Review of Law and Social Justice. She also worked in the University of Southern California Immigration Clinic, representing clients in a variety of immigration matters, including asylum applications, applications for the survivors of domestic violence pursuant to the Violence Against Women Act, and visa applications for victims of crimes.
