About Joseph C. Platt

Joseph Platt focuses on servicing clients that face investigations and enforcement actions brought by federal regulators with jurisdiction over securities and commodities exchanges, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), as well as exchanges and self-regulatory organizations. Clients know they can rely on him to understand the technical issues they face as regulated parties in this space because of his prior experience as an equities trader. He also is well versed in defending clients in a broad range of federal litigation matters, including in complex multidistrict litigations.

Joseph maintains an active pro bono practice, including successfully representing an Illinois prisoner before the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Before joining Katten, he served as a law clerk in the US District Court for the Central District of California and the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
