(LONDON) Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP announced today that investment funds attorney David Brennand has joined Katten's Financial Services practice as a partner. This follows the recent hires in London of corporate and commercial partner Philip Watkins, hospitality and leisure specialist Robert Asher, and leading hedge fund and private equity attorney Barry Breen, with whom David has worked extensively over the last decade.
"David joining us reflects our continued commitment to strategic growth in this important financial centre," said Vincent A.F. Sergi, Katten Chairman.
Specialising in advising on the structuring and ongoing operation of alternative fund structures investing in a diverse range of asset classes, in addition to his knowledge and experience in structuring more mainstream products, David has particular expertise in structuring hybrid funds, including funds investing in shipping and freight derivatives, real estate and real estate derivatives, and international infrastructure projects. David's expertise also extends to fund and management restructurings and negotiating the structures and terms applicable to managed accounts, seed capital arrangements and illiquid portfolio acquisitions and divestments, as well as advising on fund-related corporate transactions. David is recognised as a leading lawyer in private funds by The International Who's Who of Private Funds Lawyers.
"We are delighted to welcome David to our growing team in London," commented Henry Bregstein, global co-chair of Katten's Financial Services practice. "With the ever-increasing complexity of the global asset management environment it is essential that our clients have access to the highest-calibre legal professionals, and Katten is committed to investing in the industry's best talent so we have the right people in all our jurisdictions to serve our clients."
"We are thrilled David has joined our office as a partner," said Peter Sugden, managing partner of Katten's London office.
He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in financial services and comes highly recommended. Our decision to hire David alongside Barry, with whom he has worked extensively for over a decade, emphasizes our commitment to the asset management space in Europe and he will be an excellent fit for our rapidly expanding Financial Services group in London, and for the firm as a whole. In addition to David, in the coming months we anticipate bringing on other senior attorneys with a wealth of experience in both Financial Services and other core areas as we continue to develop the office and further enhance the team.
