The arrival of Michael Gaston-Bell, Litigation special counsel in Katten’s Dallas office, has garnered media attention as he spearheads that office’s Employment Litigation and Counseling efforts. He is the first employment attorney to join the firm’s Dallas office, which opened in 2018.

Featured in news outlets such as The Texas Lawbook and Texas Lawyer, Michael’s practice focuses primarily on helping clients work through sophisticated employment and commercial litigation matters. He has handled many high-profile and high-damage cases in the health care, entertainment, banking, military contractor and retail industries.

“Michael is a talented attorney who will offer our clients in Dallas and across the country exceptional employment litigation counsel,” said David Crichlow, national chair of Katten’s Commercial Litigation group. “He has the skills to succeed and a track record for being a true advocate for his clients who often face tough, complicated issues.”

Dallas managing partner Mark Solomon noted that Michael’s arrival was well-timed as the firm was looking to support the employment needs of clients in Dallas for some time, a need that has only grown since the pandemic. As a result of COVID-19 stay-home orders, the Dallas office has seen an increase in labor and employment lawsuits and demand for counseling on policies. As businesses start to reopen, Michael is able to advise on those challenging matters as well.

On joining Katten, Michael sees opportunity to grow his practice because the Dallas office has a robust group of attorneys doing corporate and mergers and acquisitions work, and his practice meshes well with that practice.

Michael was recently named to the board of directors of the Texas Young Lawyers Association. He is also an alumni of the Pathfinder program, designed by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to equip diverse high-potential, early-career attorneys with practical tools for developing and leveraging professional networks, foundational leadership skills and career development strategies.
