About Mitchel E. Garnett

Mitchel Garnett concentrates his practice on corporate matters. His primary focuses are on private equity transactions and joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and sports transactions. He represents clients who buy companies to grow and sell them in a few years. He also works with individuals and groups who buy and sell sports teams. In addition, he provides general counsel to public and private companies and private equity funds and counsels several professional sports teams as well.

In business, as in sports, winning depends on building a talented team

Mitchel represents strategic and financial buyers and sellers through all stages of mergers and acquisitions in diverse industries. On the sports side of his practice, he assists professional teams with a variety of transactions, including acquisitions, sales, equity and debt financings. Teams also seek his help with team expansions, sponsorships and staff employment agreements.

In addition, Mitchel maintains an active pro bono practice and represents asylum seekers in legal proceedings.

During law school, Mitchel served as an executive editor for the Michigan Journal of Race & Law. He also was a member of the Sports Law Society and the Black Law Students Association, and served as a teaching assistant for the Department of English Language and Literature.
