Monica A. Lopez helps clients with corporate governance and general corporate matters. Experienced working with companies and nonprofits, Monica's clients count on her to navigate corporate restructurings, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and securities matters.

Monica excels at working with cross functional teams within organizations. She seeks to build rapport with clients while offering them sound and practical counsel.
Monica has broad experience representing companies, closely held businesses, nonprofit corporations, startups, real estate developers and investors, and financial institutions. She has assisted clients with matters involving joint ventures, private equity, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, securities compliance, credit facilities, real estate acquisitions and financings, and Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) compliance and governance.
As a first generation attorney and the first lawyer in her family, Monica understands the need for diverse representation in the legal profession. She is active in her community and the bar, having served as co-chair of the Houston Young Lawyer Association First Generation Attorney Committee. For her service, she received the Outstanding Committee Chair Award for the bar year 2019-2020.
During law school, Monica co-chaired the inaugural Student Bar Association Career Services Committee, served as a law review associate editor, a legal research assistant, a student ambassador and a mentor. Having lost both her parents to cancer, she served as an ACT Lead Volunteer for the American Cancer Society – Cancer Action Network, where she lobbied state and federal legislators and attended state and federal lobby days while in law school.
Monica is an alumna of the Gates Millennium Scholars program. She often mentors other Gates Millennium Scholars, law students and young lawyers and speaks about her experiences at events for her law school and other diverse organizations.
