Litigation partner Polly Sprenger spoke with Bloomberg on recent allegations by three mining tycoons—known as the Trio from Eurasian Natural Resources Corp.—that their own lawyer conspired with Britain’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) to incriminate them so he could fleece them for millions of pounds. The Trio stands accused of paying bribes to buy mines in Kazakhstan and Africa. Polly noted that the SFO should be alert of these types of delaying tactics. She stated, "I would be troubled by the suggestion that the SFO would be intimidated by any attempt to shame it into backing off an investigation. [The prosecutor] is aware of these things and is sufficiently protected against this." ("How Mining Tycoons Are Trying to Foil a Big UK Bribery Probe," July 15, 2018)
