About Timothy Dodd

Tim Dodd is a senior associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP, specializing in hotels and hospitality matters. Tim has a broad range of experience acting for major international hotel operator companies, hotel owners, property companies, multinational organisations, developers, institutional investors and governmental bodies. He assists clients (whether they are hotel operators or owners/franchisees or franchisors) with all types of hotel transactions. Previous matters have included the negotiation of a wide range of hotel management agreements on behalf of leading international hotel operators in many jurisdictions across the world, the sale and management-back of hotels, the sale of a UK hotels portfolio to a major US-based investment firm, the negotiation of management-to-franchise arrangements ('manchise' contracts), and the sale by a sovereign wealth fund of various real estate commercial assets in the UK.

Valuable in-house experience

Prior to joining Katten, Tim spent over four years as in-house corporate counsel at two leading international hotel operating companies where he managed a wide slate of development deals, and negotiated management agreements, franchise agreements and a variety of supporting contracts. He also led due diligence processes into hotel owning institutions, and addressed a wide range of operating issues affecting numerous hotels within a hotel operator's portfolio, including regional services and goods procurement as well as localised negotiation of underleases and licences to concessionaires.

Prior to his time in-house, Tim was an associate in the Real Estate team of a Magic Circle law firm in London, where he worked on a range of multijurisdiction M&A and PFI transactions, as well as sales, purchasing, leasing and financing of UK commercial real estate.
