        the Editor

e recently had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending this year’s International Bar Association’s
European Fashion and Luxury Law Conference and are now thrilled to bring you the Summer
2025 edition of The Katten Kattwalk, filled with the latest fashion law trends, legal developments
Wand news. In this issue, you will meet Anita Hodea, an Intellectual Property (IP) associate who
recently joined our London office and whose practice encompasses advising clients on soft IP matters across
a broad range of sectors, including financial services, fashion, e-commerce, homeware and travel. Then, we
hear from IP Litigation Partner Floyd Mandell, Trademark/Copyright/Privacy Group co-chair, on the interplay
between federal and state law in trademark litigation, particularly regarding the availability of punitive damages,
and a case that reflects the evolving landscape of trademark remedies, Curry v. Revolution Laboratories, LLC.
Then, Litigation Partner and Deputy General Counsel David Halberstadter delves into a lawsuit between two
social media influencers in which one of them accused the other of infringing on her copyrighted social media
posts on Instagram and TikTok, where they both promoted products available on Amazon. Then, Commercial
Litigation Associate Carly Ryan discusses Chanel’s legal victory against a luxury reseller for trademark
infringement, false association and false advertising.

Up next is our spotlight on UK legal updates, where London Deputy Managing Partner Terry Green outlines
the UK Office of Communications’ efforts to protect kids from harmful content online, including age assurance
processes and default settings for children. Finally, two of Katten’s summer associates share how current events
and new legislation are impacting today’s fashion landscape — Justin Murphy discusses new provisions under
the New York State Fashion Workers Act, aimed at protecting fashion models, followed by Chloe Crissman, who
describes how tariffs are likely to increase costs and impact consumer behavior in the fast fashion industry.

We hope you enjoy reading this special summer issue as much as we enjoyed putting it together. As always,
thank you for reading, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with your fashion law questions
        Karen Artz Ash
