Balancing risk and reward in distressed-asset transactions

As head of Katten's Distressed and Special Situations Investing practice, Amanda advises investment banks, domestic and international hedge funds, special opportunity funds, asset managers and financial institutions of all kinds on the acquisition and sale of distressed assets, including foreign and domestic bank loans, trade claims, trust interests, private securities, litigation claims and other investments in companies undergoing financial distress. From initial credit analysis to the negotiation of transfer documentation to settlement, Amanda provides tailored legal advice and transactional support at every stage of a transaction.

Drawing on her background as a bankruptcy attorney, Amanda offers a comprehensive approach and valuable perspective to trading issues related to loan restructurings. She also regularly advises clients on bespoke opportunities including litigation claims and other special-situation investments.

Amanda is an active member of the Loan Syndication and Trading Association (LSTA) and serves on the LSTA Trade Practices and Forms Committee.
