About Anita Hodea

Anita Hodea’s practice focuses on soft intellectual property matters, advising clients across a broad range of sectors including financial services, fashion, e-commerce, homeware and travel. Anita has experience supporting clients in relation to IP issues in cross-jurisdictional contentious matters, as well as offering noncontentious guidance on brand strategy, licensing and the IP, IT and data protection elements of corporate transactions. Anita helps clients protect, enforce and enhance the value of their intellectual property assets.

Counsel dedicated to protecting and growing brands

Anita’s contentious experience includes representing clients before the EU Intellectual Property Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office in trademark opposition, cancellation and invalidity proceedings, as well as handling domain name disputes and complaints before relevant domain name bodies. On the noncontentious side, Anita provides guidance on licensing, IP due diligence in corporate transactions — including mergers and acquisitions and private equity deals — and manages post-completion tasks for international IP portfolios, such as registering security interests against trademarks and design rights at the relevant IP registries.

In addition to her IP practice, Anita advises clients on various data protection issues concerning their GDPR compliance.

Prior to joining Katten, Anita trained and worked at another global law firm. She also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice at the University of Oxford alongside her work.
