About Caitlin A. Kierum

Caitlin Kierum advises health care and life sciences industry clients on a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters. Her work has included representation of physician groups, pharmacies, hospital systems, private equity sponsors, health care technology companies, pharmaceutical and medical devices companies, and nonprofit health care organizations.

Detail-oriented solutions for complex regulatory matters

Prior to joining Katten, Caitlin worked at a large law firm advising clients on complex transactions, restructurings, investigations, state health care transaction filings and other regulatory compliance matters. She leverages that experience to provide efficient and effective counsel to clients on potential risks and opportunities inherent to the highly regulated health care industry. She also regularly counsels clients on a broad range of health care related matters, including licensure, certificate of need and exemption filings, corporate practice of medicine, fraud and abuse laws (Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and the False Claims Act), and privacy laws, including compliance with HIPAA's Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules.

During law school, Caitlin worked as a law student volunteer with the US Department of Justice, Civil Frauds Division and as a law clerk for a large academic medical center in the Midwest. Caitlin also served as an editor on the Michigan Law Review and was the managing editor and a co-founder of the Michigan Journal of Law & Society.
