About Joseph M. Carlson

Joseph Carlson works with clients who provide debt financing solutions for lower-middle-market to middle-market borrowers in the commercial sectors of health care, manufacturing, insurance and financial services.

Opportunity is a winning bid and a closing secured with minimal risk

Joseph assists these clients with the documentation of secured and unsecured financing transactions in connection with leveraged buyouts, refinancings, dividend recapitalizations and add-on acquisition financings. He also evaluates and advises clients on the potential risks associated with the collateral packages pledged by borrowers and guarantors in connection with secured credit facilities.

His understanding of his clients' business needs and expectations includes just how much risk each client is willing to take, and the loan documentation required to protect against such risks.

During law school, Joseph was an associate editor of the DePaul Law Review and served as a mentor for the Academic Success Program. He also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Thomas M. Durkin in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Prior to attending law school, Joseph worked in the institutional consulting industry.
