About Josh Lewis

Josh Lewis maintains a broad corporate practice advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, corporate governance and other corporate and commercial transactions. His practice includes the representation of professional sports teams and investors in professional sports teams in connection with team acquisitions and sales, day-to-day operations, equity financings, sponsorship deals and other commercial matters.

A background of experience that leads to industry knowledge

Prior to joining Katten, Josh worked at an international law firm in Chicago and interned in the media relations department for one team in Major League Baseball. During law school, Josh participated in the student honors program at the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

  • Represented purchaser in acquiring the Dallas Mavericks. Negotiated and documented the acquisition, equity structure and NBA's approval of the transaction.
  • Represented purchaser in acquiring the Charlotte Hornets. Negotiated and documented the acquisition, equity structure and NBA's approval of the transaction.
  • Represented Silver Chalice in acquiring a controlling interest in 120 Sports (Stadium).
  • Represented purchasers of minority interests in the Atlanta Hawks and Nashville Soccer Club.
  • Represent the Philadelphia Union with respect to equity investments, employment agreements, the naming rights agreement of the WSFS Bank Sportsplex and other sponsorship agreements.
  • Represent the Chicago Bulls with respect to sponsorship agreements and employment agreements.
  • Represent the Seattle Kraken with respect to equity investments, ownership transfers and employment agreements.
