In a Law360 Pulse article featuring his recent move to Katten, partner Chris Beatty discussed his decision to join the firm's Commercial Litigation practice. As the newest member of Katten's group of litigators in the Los Angeles-Century City office, Chris brings a background of substantial trial and appellate litigation experience involving a wide range of business matters across a variety of industries. Speaking with Law360 Pulse about his role as a generalist, Chris noted that there is growing demand for commercial litigation and his particular practice.
Sharing several reasons for why he chose Katten, Chris said that the firm's Commercial Litigation group "has an outstanding reputation, especially regionally in New York and Chicago, and I am looking forward to adding my capabilities and growing the team on the West Coast." Katten's position as a full-service firm also influenced his decision, as he explained that "there are advantages to comprehensively addressing client needs within the same firm, eliminating the need for me to refer clients elsewhere, say, for transactional matters."
Katten further offered the opportunity to collaborate with lawyers in other practice groups, which Chris noted also benefits his clients. "For example, Katten has one of the strongest entertainment and media litigation groups based in LA, and there's a natural synergy there for some of the clients I represent, and similarly with the insolvency and restructuring group and health care practice," he said.
