About Laura D. Waller

Laura Waller is a strong advocate for her clients in all aspects of employment litigation and counseling. Through litigation and dispute resolution, she helps them address their thorniest employment issues, and she counsels on how to avoid such issues in the first place. Her clients range from small businesses with just a few employees to corporate giants with a workforce scattered across the country. No matter the size or location, Laura's clients rely on her for creative solutions that resolve not just the problem at hand, but her clients' broader business concerns.

Tough, creative employment litigation and counseling

Laura represents companies in federal and state courts, as well as before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the United States Department of Labor and local administrative agencies. She defends employers against claims of wage and hour violations, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, violation of restrictive covenants, breach of fiduciary duties and misappropriation of trade secrets. Her litigation experience extends to the appellate level, including the Illinois Supreme Court, and class and collective actions.

Laura also advises clients in corporate transactions regarding labor and employment matters, and she provides employers with day-to-day preventive counseling and strategic solutions. She advises on matters relating to pre-employment inquiries, background checks, hiring, discipline, separations, disability and religious accommodations, employee handbooks and policies, and compliance with local, state and federal employment laws.

During law school, Laura served as the executive administrative editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. Following graduation from law school, Laura was awarded a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellowship with the Legal Assistance Foundation in Chicago, where she assisted in counseling and representing clients on employment-related matters.
