(LONDON) Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP announced today that real estate attorney Peter Sugden will join Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP, the firm’s London affiliate, as its new managing partner. In addition, Peter will continue to oversee and develop his real estate practice, focusing on real estate investment, development, hospitality and leisure, joint ventures and structured real estate transactions.

“Peter is an excellent addition to Katten’s London affiliate and is the right person to lead the firm’s growth and development in the UK and Europe,” said Vince Sergi, national managing partner for the firm, based in the U.S. “His expertise and wealth of knowledge in complex real estate is unsurpassed and will add tremendous value to our firm overall.”

Peter has been practicing in London for more than 23 years and has an extensive base of clients ranging from institutions, private equity and opportunity funds to property companies and pension funds.

Peter has led many major UK and European real estate deals, most recently Tishman Speyer’s £170m Central London Office purchase of Eland House, Victoria from Land Securities plc. He is constantly rated in the legal directories for his technical excellence and ability to get straight to what is important and move deals along.

“He has good commercial knowledge and will strike up a good rapport with the other side to help his client’s interests,” according to 2012 Chambers UK.

Peter joins Katten as the firm continues its focus on building its core practice areas in London, real estate and financial services. Prior to Katten, he served as head of real estate in London for Mayer Brown.
