The American Lawyer has honored Katten as a member of its Global Elite, a distinction recognizing law firms it considers as "racing ahead" of their peers.
The American Lawyer grouped firms into four categories, focusing on scale, profitability, productivity and reach. Katten was called out alongside a set of peers for its outsized profitability relative to its scale.
The Global Elite rankings methodology evaluates the 2025 Global 200 firms by assigning 1–200 scores for a set of seven Fiscal Year 2024 metrics based on each firm’s rank in those categories. Each firm's Overall Global Elite Score is the average of its seven metric scores, highlighting strength across profitability, productivity, size, scale and global reach. Two focused rankings apply different weightings: Size, Scale, and Reach emphasizes revenue, total lawyers, global scale, and lawyer distribution; Profitability & Productivity emphasizes RPL, PEP, and PPL, irrespective of firm size or geographic distribution.
