(CHICAGO) For the fourth consecutive year, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP was recognized as one of the top Illinois law firms for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) inclusiveness and equality, according to the results of the 2016 Equality Illinois Law Firm Survey. The survey highlights law firms leading the way in providing a welcoming and fair work environment for LGBT employees and engaging with the LGBT community.
"This recognition underscores Katten's long-term commitment to workplace equality," said Katten Chief Diversity Officer Leslie D. Minier. "Katten's inclusive policies and benefits for our LGBT employees encourage a diverse work environment while supporting advancement within the firm."
Katten offers progressive work benefits, including health care, leave and other assistance that extend to same-sex partners. The firm's LGBT Coalition helps foster an inclusive environment for attorneys and recruits who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender by providing educational and business opportunities for LGBT attorneys and supporting organizations that work toward equal rights for LGBT individuals and families in the broader community.
On a pro bono basis, Katten has represented LGBT individuals fleeing persecution based on sexual orientation, transgender employees facing discrimination and people living with AIDS/HIV who need assistance with estate planning. In the last year, Katten also sponsored the Human Rights Campaign's annual dinner gala, Lambda Legal's 2015 Bon Foster event and the LGBT Community Center's City Dinner 2015, among others.
Top firms will be recognized tonight at the Equality Illinois' Raising the Bar recognition event in Chicago and also in the publication, Raising the Bar: Law Firms Leading the Way to LGBT Equality, which highlights the survey findings and includes best practices for firms seeking to increase their workplace diversity and equality.
