For the third consecutive year, Mergers & Acquisitions has named Kimberly Smith, partner and global chair of Katten's Corporate practice, to its list of Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A.

In a Q&A with the publication, Kimberly discussed her busy M&A practice and her laser focus on long-term strategies that grow Katten's client base throughout the United States, United Kingdom and China. In addition to overseeing a 140-member practice, Kimberly advises private equity funds and other clients on strategic and complex transactions, including leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, and divestitures across multiple industries.

Kimberly also discussed her commitment to advancing women attorneys, including participating in the Women's Leadership Forum and as a member of the firm's national mentoring panel. Outside of law, Kimberly is active with the Women's Association of Venture and Equity (WAVE).

"When I start seeing women coming up the ranks of private equity firms – which unfortunately have few women in investing roles deciding where to allocate capital – I am ready to extend my hand to help them ascend to those senior roles, she said."

The 8th annual Mergers & Acquisitions list recognized 18 dealmakers on its 2023 list, which features dealmakers with significant influence inside their companies and in the wider middle-market dealmaking universe. The honorees are also recognized for their work advancing the role of women in financial services.
