David Crichlow, partner and national Commercial Litigation chair, has been named a Litigation Trailblazer by The National Law Journal. The profile notes that the civil rights movement, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Justice Thurgood Marshall, and a drive to achieve justice through the legal system inspired his "pioneer spirit." "I always wanted to be a trial lawyer and advocate of my clients' rights. I just never thought it would be on behalf of corporations." Noting several of his successes as a commercial litigator, David is called a trailblazer for building a career that led to him being named a partner while there were not many African-American partners to look up to in big law earlier in his career. "I feel I've continued to build that path for underrepresented people at Am Law 100 firms." Looking to the future for the industry, he notes, "Firms that are not innovative will be looked at as a commodity provider." Pushing for growth in diversity and better awareness of wellness and mental health issues will continue to be important topics for the legal industry. ("Litigation Trailblazers," November 2, 2020)
