Josh Rubenstein, national head of the Trusts and Estates practice, will present "The Impact of Matrimonial Laws Upon International Estate Planning" at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, January 28 at an evening program of the Estate Planning Council of New York City, Inc. Josh will review the matrimonial law considerations (in both common and civil law jurisdictions) that need to be taken into account when doing estate planning for couples with multijurisdictional contacts. In particular, he will discuss the various requirements for entering into and ending marriages (whether by death or divorce); the use of marital agreements; and the use of trusts and other entities, property regimes, and community property considerations.
