The National Law Journal has named Johnjerica Hodge and India Williams to its 2023 list of DC Rising Stars, a recognition that honors the 40 most promising lawyers under the age of 40 in the Washington, DC region. This year's winners were selected from a competitive pool and represent a cross-section of practice areas.
Johnjerica and India are being recognized for their work related to environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. Recent matters include a significant win on behalf of an international nonprofit organization in a lawsuit that challenged the client's sustainability definition and supply chain sustainability, as well as representation of a health care company and its affiliated entities to collaboratively create a program that incorporated ESG principles into their operations, in alignment with industry standards and the company's policies and principles.
Johnjerica attributes her success to her passion for ESG and supportive Katten colleagues. "It's not simply a job to me," she said. "I also have a fabulous group of people I consider my sounding board."
India also credits her Katten team as a major key to success and emphasized that the value of their work is a huge motivator. "Our work is adding value across our client's portfolio and for their investors by advancing their ESG efforts while minimizing risk," she said. "It is meaningful for me to meet our clients where they are in their ESG journey."
