In its Fiscal Year ("FY") 2017 Federal Annual Monitoring and Evaluation ("FAME") Report, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") noted that the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health ("Cal/OSHA") has improved its enforcement, appeals, and federal standards adoption practices. The FAME process involves a case file review of closed inspections resulting in violations, along with randomly selected Cal/OSHA office visits. The FY 2017 Report's conclusions suggest that Cal/OSHA's performance may be attributed to enhanced resources and more aggressive regulatory policies.
