KATTEN HOSTS JULY 9 LEGAL CLINIC FOR
PILI’S ILLINOIS FRE E LEGAL ANSWERS MESSAGE BOARD

On July 9, Katten’s Chicago office hosted a legal clinic for Illinois Free Legal Answers, a message board run by
the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) that provides free legal advice to individuals who qualify under certain
income thresholds. The clinic involved multiple summer associates and attorneys, including Chad Doobay,
Private Wealth Partner Jeffrey Glickman and Intellectual Property Associate Lauren Eiten. This opportunity
exposed summer associates to a range of legal issues outside their typical practice areas and fostered collabo-
ration as they worked in groups, supervised by attorneys, to address a variety of questions related to family law,
tenant rights and civil procedures from individuals who cannot afford legal representation.

Jeffrey, who logged 100 pro bono hours on the message board last year, emphasized the platform’s value,
stating, “Pro bono cases can be very time-intensive, but with this platform and the clinic we hosted, you can
make a difference and give valuable legal counsel within 45 minutes.”
