CHICAGO—Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP announced today that former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley has joined their law firm of more than 600 lawyers with offices in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Charlotte as well as an office in London and one with a license pending to open in Shanghai later this year.
Mayor Daley, who joined Katten after 22 years as mayor and more than 40 years in government, will be Of Counsel to the firm and, in that role, will draw on his vast knowledge, experience and relationships globally to contribute to the continued growth of the firm. Daley will not participate in any work at Katten involving the City of Chicago or any of its affiliate city agencies.
“I appreciate all of the professional offers I have received since announcing my plan to leave government,” said Daley, who had opportunities to join other prominent law firms.
“I chose Katten for a number of reasons. They’re a well-managed group of talented professionals. They have an innovative yet practical approach to helping clients accomplish their goals, and they are expanding globally,” he said. “The firm also has a demonstrated commitment to giving back to the community, which is important to me.”
Katten is one of only four law firms in America to be named among the “100 Best Companies For Women,” by Working Mother magazine for four consecutive years. The Human Rights Campaign has called the firm one of the “Best Places to Work,” for LGBT equality, and Multicultural Law magazine has named it among, “The Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity” for the past seven years.
“We are honored that Mayor Daley has chosen to join Katten,” said Vincent Sergi, national managing partner. “In joining our firm, he clearly recognizes what we have accomplished and that we are poised for significant growth nationally and internationally. His advice and counsel will be invaluable.”
