James J. Calder, Co-Chair of the Firm’s Antitrust Practice, was quoted in a Competition Law360 article on the antitrust issues that the health care industry is facing due to increasingly concentrated markets. In the article, Mr. Calder notes that the fact that some companies have more economic power than others does not mean a monopoly exists. “Antitrust laws guard against conduct that impairs competition in a market—not the mere existence of economic power in the market.” ("Monopsony Power Breeds Antitrust Concerns," June 7, 2006).
