NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Andrew M. Katzenstein and Joshua S. Rubenstein, both partners in the Firm’s Trusts and Estates practice, have been named among the nation’s top attorneys by Worth Magazine. The list will publish in the magazine’s December 2007 issue and will highlight the top 100 lawyers in the nation serving affluent individuals’ personal and family needs. This is the second time in its three-year history that Mr. Katzenstein and Mr. Rubenstein have been named to the list.

Launched in 2005, the Top 100 Attorneys list is the result of over a year of exhaustive research by Worth’s editorial staff. In the selection process for its “Top 100 Attorneys” list, Worth's editors evaluated lawyers specializing in trusts and estates, philanthropy, elder care, matrimonial and other private practice areas, using feedback from professionals in the wealth management industry, including financial advisors, accountants, consultants, family office executives, academics and clients. In addition to seeking individuals with exceptional legal expertise, Worth editors looked for lawyers with great tact, discretion and stellar interpersonal skills, enabling them to explain a client’s options in the face of incredibly complicated legal issues.

As co-chair of Katten’s Los Angeles Trusts & Estates Practice, Mr. Katzenstein’s practice focuses on estate, gift and generation-skipping tax planning; income tax issues related to trust planning; and probate and trust administration matters, including resolving disputes between fiduciaries and beneficiaries. He also devotes a significant portion of his practice to charitable organization matters.

A fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, Mr. Katzenstein is a frequent lecturer on a variety of estate planning and tax related topics in the U.S., Europe and Canada, has taught Estate Tax at UCLA Law School since 1992 and previously taught Estate Planning and Advanced Estate Planning in the Graduate Tax Program at the University of San Diego and at Golden Gate University. He also participated in the prestigious USC Tax Institute and the USC Probate and Trust Law Conference.

Mr. Rubenstein is based in the Firm’s New York office and serves as chair of Katten’s National Trusts & Estates Practice. He handles a wide variety of private client matters on a local, national and international level, including personal and estate planning, the administration of estates and trusts, and contested Surrogate’s Court and tax proceedings for high net worth individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, and others. He is a frequent lecturer and author on these topics, a Member of the Executive Council and Treasurer of the International Academy of Estates and Trusts Law, a Fellow and Regent of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, a member of the U.K.-based Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.

Mr. Rubenstein is a former chair of the Trusts & Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and of the International Committee of the Real Property and Probate Section of the American Bar Association. He is also an adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School and is the author of the LexisNexis Answer Guide on New York Surrogate’s Court Practice.
