Crain's New York Business Honors Wendy Cohen and Deepro Mukerjee as 2024 Notable Leaders in Law

New York Managing Partner Wendy Cohen, Financial Markets and Funds, and Partner Deepro Mukerjee, Intellectual Property (IP) Department Chair, were named to the Crain's New York Business list of Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting & Law.

For decades, Wendy has been the "go-to attorney for various asset management clients," helping them navigate complex legal and regulatory matters and providing creative and commercial solutions. As managing partner of our New York office, Wendy is the first woman in that role, overseeing 206 of the more than 700 attorneys at Katten, including leaders of the firm's core national practices. She also serves on Katten's Capital Partner Compensation Committee and as co-chair of the Legal Peer Advisory Group at the global organization 100 Women in Finance.

Deepro, a member of Katten's Executive Committee and Board of Directors, has been honored for his role in leading, advising and supporting an IP practice with more than 50 members that spans several offices in the United States and one in the United Kingdom. In that role, Deepro is responsible for the patent, trademark, copyright, advertising and cybersecurity practice groups of the firm. While he is often noted for his successes in various complex pharmaceutical litigations, his breadth of experience is far broader. Crain's highlighted his victory in one of the country's few plant patent lawsuits, in which Deepro's client, an international fresh produce distributor, had all infringement claims against it dismissed regarding a specific avocado varietal, obtained patent rights to the asserted patent itself, and even garnered a public apology from the plaintiff that was published in several leading publications.

Wendy and Deepro were named among 101 honorees on the list, which spotlights leaders who "possess the financial, strategic, and legal expertise to drive significant commercial activity in the region” and not only “excel in their fields” but also “embody the spirit of New York in their creativity and achievement."
