New Katten Mergers and Acquisitions partner Dilen Kumar spoke with Texas Lawyer about his shift from public service in the Obama administration to private practice at Katten.

Before going into private practice at large law firms, Dilen served as an assistant counsel in the White House Counsel's Office. He said he was drawn to Katten because of its "'well-deserved reputation' as a leader in private equity work, especially for middle-market deals."

Texas Lawyer noted Dilen is helping the firm expand its M&A and Private Equity team, which is in high demand.

"We are actively looking to continue to grow the corporate and M&A practice. It is an extremely hot area for the firm. … We are lucky we found Dilen," said Mark Solomon, Corporate managing partner of Katten's Dallas office.
