The article explores the pervasiveness of the lack of diversity in both the financial services industry and the legal community. Sharing insight from a recent diversity panel discussion during the annual Financial Markets Litigation Enforcement Symposium, it offers suggestions for how to increase the pipeline of racially diverse attorneys in the financial services industry, as well as for building and nurturing diversity and inclusion efforts at law firms. The article examines areas of opportunity to be found in mentorship and sponsorship relationships, diversifying outside vendors and recruitment and retention efforts.
