In light of some recent social media post controversies, the article looks at the importance of employers keeping social media policies up-to-date. It is key to find balance between protecting a company’s interests and reputation while not infringing on employee interests and rights to free expression, as well as offer training to ensure the guidelines are understood and reinforced. The article recommends making it clear for employees what types of behavior on social media could lead to dismissal.
