(CHARLOTTE) Katten, in partnership with Cushman & Wakefield, announced today that it will feature six industry leaders at the 16th annual Outlook on the Commercial Real Estate Market. The invitation-only event will take place in person on January 18 in Uptown Charlotte.

"This year we will examine a commercial real estate market unlike any other we've experienced in the 16 years of hosting this event," said Daniel S. Huffenus, event moderator and Katten Real Estate partner who is co-hosting the event with Brett Gray, managing principal of Cushman & Wakefield. "We look forward to bringing this extraordinary group of experts together to take a hard look at industry challenges and how construction costs, interest rates, debt and equity may impact the year ahead."

Keynote speaker James Bohnaker, senior economist, Cushman & Wakefield, will offer an economic and commercial real estate outlook for 2023. Joining him in a panel discussion are several of the region's real estate thought leaders: Kenneth Carpenter, senior managing director, Greystone; Kennedy Hicks, executive vice president, Cousins; Steven McCraney, president & CEO, McCraney Property Company; Ali Mehdian, vice president, AEW Capital Management; and Art Rendak, president, Inland Mortgage Capital, LLC.

"The US economy faces an uncertain path in 2023 amid rising interest rates, high inflation, and risk of recession — all while some pandemic-induced disruptions have yet to fully normalize. Commercial real estate will be influenced by these macro factors, but strong local economic drivers in Charlotte and throughout the Carolinas position the region for ongoing vibrancy in the long run," said Bohnaker.

Bohnaker serves as a senior economist within Cushman & Wakefield's global think tank, providing thought leadership, economic outlook presentations, and forecasting support to the firm's leadership for a variety of property types and stakeholders. With an extensive background as a global macroeconomist, he has provided strategic consulting for many of the world's largest investment banks and corporations. His expertise has also been featured in leading news publications and he is both a Certified Business Economist (CBE) and member of the National Association of Business Economists (NABE).

Event attendees are required to register in advance. While the event is free of charge, attendees are encouraged to donate to Hospitality House of Charlotte, which provides the comforts of home for families of seriously ill loved ones by offering affordable accommodations in the heart of Charlotte's medical community.
