(NEW YORK) Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP announced today that Michelle A. Gyves has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate/Private Equity practice in New York. Gyves provides strategic advice on a range of US and international employment matters, with a particular focus on private equity clients and their portfolio companies.

"Our clients will benefit greatly from Michelle's extensive experience in handling a range of often complicated employment law matters," said Katten Chairman Roger P. Furey. "Her impressive skill set fits well with the Katten culture of focused client service, legal excellence and cutting-edge innovation."

Gyves concentrates on developing strategies for employers regarding hiring and termination, compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion as well as global mobility. She has extensive experience in drafting employment and restrictive covenant agreements, advising on employee separations, including both individual separations and reductions in force, conducting investigations into workplace complaints, responding to charges and claims, developing employment policies and establishing workplace complaint hotlines.

Gyves also represents clients on both buy- and sell- side corporate transactions, conducting employment and labor diligence and negotiating and drafting relevant portions of deal documents.

"Shelly is an excellent addition to our team as her wide-ranging experience equips us with exactly what private equity investors need when addressing the most pressing employment issues at their portfolio companies," said Kimberly Smith, co-chair of Katten's nationwide Private Equity practice.

Gyves has worked with public and private companies, ensuring that they understand and heed disability and leave laws, employer health and safety obligations and working time regulations, among many other issues. She also counsels on issues at the intersection of technology and employment law, including compliance with applicable data privacy laws worldwide, most notably the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), both for employee and customer data.

Prior to joining Katten, Gyves was at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York.
