(DALLAS) Katten announced today that Olga Gurtovaya has joined its Dallas office as a partner in the Real Estate practice, strengthening that practice with her extensive skills and experience in commercial real estate transactions.

"Olga clearly is an exceptional attorney who brings valuable knowledge and substantial experience as the latest in an expanding number of new Dallas partners," said Mark S. Solomon, Katten's Dallas managing partner. "Her clear understanding of the legal needs of lenders and borrowers and her laudable ability to find workable solutions further strengthen Katten's top-shelf client service."

Gurtovaya has represented banks nationwide. More specifically, she focuses on representing commercial lenders, including regional banks and private lenders, in financing transactions and restructurings, structured finance transactions and loan assignments. She also represents developers in the acquisition, disposition and development of office buildings, industrial projects and retail centers.

Some of Gurtovaya's recent work locally includes representing a bank in a $140+ million construction loan for the development of a local hotel, representing a Texas-based real estate firm in closing several adjacent tracts of land for a multimillion-dollar residential/retail development in Dallas, representing a home builder in the acquisition and development of single-family home subdivisions, and representing regional banks on multimillion-dollar construction and land loans for retail and industrial development projects across the country. Gurtovaya also has assisted a local developer in the acquisition, development and leasing of property to a national retailer.

"As lenders and borrowers adjust to changes in the real estate market brought on by a global pandemic, Olga brings considerable experience that adds value to our team and, importantly, our clients," said Timothy Little, chair of Katten's Real Estate department. "Olga's presence broadens our ability to attain our clients' business goals. We are quite glad she is here."

An active member of the women's leadership group at her previous firm, Gurtovaya works with Attorneys Serving the Community, an organization of women lawyers and law students based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who support local nonprofit organizations with programs benefiting women, children and families.
