Several media outlets, such as The American Lawyer and Coindesk, featured Daniel Davis, a partner in the Financial Markets and Funds practice, and his arrival at Katten. A former general counsel at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Dan noted that the change in administration and the opportunity to join Katten made for good timing. He told Law360, "With the election and the coming administration, it was the perfect time" to return to private practice and that his time with the CFTC had "obviously given me some great experiences and background that I hope to translate into working with Katten." Looking back, Dan shared with The American Lawyer, "I worked for two excellent chairmen, and we did a lot of wonderful things as an agency. Katten has an excellent presence in the areas I deal in, especially with the CFTC, and they provide a culture of collegiality and cooperation, which were things I stressed while at the CFTC."

Regarding his practice, Dan anticipates hitting the ground running. "I expect enforcement in the financial sector to be active and regulatory actions by the CFTC and other government bodies will be active as the administration transitions, and that will create a lot of opportunities to assist our clients as they navigate that transition." In an interview with Coindesk, he shared, "I think crypto continues to evolve. Really broadly speaking, what I'm looking to do with my practice is remain at the cutting edge of crypto."
