About Lindsey L. Smith

Lindsey Smith is an experienced attorney whose practice focuses on a broad range of complex litigation matters. Her practice includes advising financial services firms in regulatory investigations. She also deals with a variety of commercial disputes ranging from those that are already in litigation, to others where the goal is to try and resolve the dispute before litigation is necessary. Her clients include large financial institutions, corporations of all sizes in diverse industries, and individuals dealing with government and regulatory inquiries and a variety of commercial disputes.

Finding new ways to resolve disputes

Lindsey is always seeking the best solution for her litigation clients, even when that solution may differ from the more common path. She begins by investigating all aspects of the problem, giving the client an accurate assessment of the possible outcomes and then delivering a result that is within those outcomes. This way, any decisions to proceed with litigation will be the result of a measured and accepted risk assessment.

Lindsey began her career as a law clerk at the North Carolina Court of Appeals and then practiced with a regional defense firm before joining Katten. Lindsey maintains an active pro bono practice, volunteering with local organizations providing legal services and advocacy to children and victims of domestic violence. She has also represented individuals seeking asylum status in order to escape violent conditions in their home country.
