About Neal Shanker Mehrotra

Neal Mehrotra is a tireless researcher and innovative thinker who finds creative solutions for his clients with their appeals, dispositive motions, and pre-trial investigative matters. Neal's background in finance and economics and passion for complex statutory interpretation questions allow him to identify the most persuasive arguments for his clients and tackle challenging questions of first impression. He believes in asking his clients questions to serve their unique needs and building enduring relationships with those for whom he has worked.

Creative advocacy for cutting-edge problems

A former district and two-time appellate clerk with experience covering antitrust, bankruptcy, insurance, trademark, and tax matters, Neal uses his insight into judicial decision-making to serve his clients best. He enjoys engaging with the broader legal community by serving on the unilateral conduct committee of the ABA's antitrust law section and lecturing at The George Washington University School of Law. He most enjoys statutory interpretation but has also published in the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law.

Before joining Katten, Neal served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sandra Segal Ikuta of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable R. Austin Huffaker Jr. of the US District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gregory E. Maggs of the US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Before attending law school, he was an investment banker at a large global bank based in New York City. Neal speaks Hindi.
