New York Magazine named national chair of Katten’s Private Wealth practice, Joshua Rubenstein, among its 2020 listing of New York City’s top rated top trusts and estates and family attorneys.

The honor recognizes Josh for being among the best in the legal profession and is based on New York Magazine’s and the New York Law Journal’s collaboration with Martindale-Hubbell and its highly regarded peer-reviewed, legal rating system. All attorneys listed, including Josh, are AV Preeminent Attorneys and Top-rated Attorneys — the highest rating given in the legal profession.

New York Magazine describes Josh as a widely respected, preeminent attorney who provides comprehensive private wealth services combining planning, estate administration and litigation on a local, national and global scale.

“In any craft, making it ‘look easy’ only happens with considerable experience and talent. Josh, who has been practicing in the field for more than 35 years, has a unique ability to create sophisticated solutions that are also elegant and uncomplicated,” New York Magazine writes.

Josh has received numerous awards throughout his career. He is a member of the National Association of Estate Planners & Council’s Estate Planning Hall of Fame and has been named a “Transatlantic Private Client Lawyer of the Year” by The American Lawyer, “International Lawyer of the Year” by Citywealth and “Trusts and Estates Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal. Additionally, Josh has been ranked by Crain’s New York Business among the “Most Connected New Yorkers.”

Most recently, Josh was elected president elect of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, a position he will hold for two years beginning in May. He will later serve as president from 2022–2024. Josh has been treasurer for the academy for many years.
