(CHICAGO) – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP today was honored for its commitment to women in the workplace by being named one of Working Mother magazine’s 100 Best Companies for the fifth consecutive year. This year’s list of companies was selected based on flexibility in the workplace.

“We are thrilled to be given this honor because supporting the advancement of women in our firm is extremely important to our future success and growth,” said Vincent A. F. Sergi, Katten’s National Managing Partner. “Our firm aims to ensure that all of our attorneys are given the tools they need to achieve a work life balance which ultimately benefits not only our employees but our clients as well.”

According to Working Mother, working moms rank flexible work arrangements as the most desired benefit they seek and the companies represented this year give their employees the power to create their own workday and workplace as well as their own flexible career path.

Katten offers workplace policies that support continued development of women as well as flexibility.

For example, Katten offers a transition program for primary caregivers returning from maternity or adoption leave. The firm offers a 60/60/80 three-month program to ease the transition back to work that consists of a 60 percent work schedule for the first two months and 80 percent work schedule for the third month. Billable-hours targets are reduced to reflect the reduced work schedule.

Additionally, women attorneys are offered on-site and online courses in continuing education and are reimbursed for seminars outside the office they complete for credit.

In 2004, the Women’s Leadership Forum was established to further the firm’s commitment to the strategic retention and advancement of women and to provide a forum for Katten’s women attorneys to discuss issues and share information.

The Working Mother 100 Best Companies are judged on answers to 650 questions, including data on the access and usage of flexible work arrangements, parental leave, childcare, health and wellness support and the advancement of women to all levels of management. The 100 Best Companies, as well as national comparisons, are profiled in the October issue of Working Mother and at workingmother.com/bestcompanies.

Katten promotes the strategic retention and advancement of women by creating and maintaining an environment that recognizes, cultivates and utilizes the talent of its women attorneys to expand and create business opportunities and achieve long-term success.
