Katten Chairman and White Collar and Internal Investigations Partner Gil Soffer was quoted by The American Lawyer in an article exploring the importance of boomerang hires at big law firms.
Gil, who left Katten in 2008 for a position in the Justice Department and rejoined the firm in 2009, drew on personal experience, highlighting the importance of gracefully handling attorney exits.
"It was hugely important," Gil said. "I resigned my partnership to avoid conflicts. They said the door would be open when I came back, if I came back. But not only was the firm supportive of the move, they held my office for me. Not only was the door open, it was the same door."
Since returning to Katten, Gil has held several leadership positions, including Managing Partner of the Chicago office and co-chair of the White Collar and Internal Investigations practice before assuming his current role as Chair.
